The Five steps of R.A.P.’s individual and group assistance and services approach have direct benefit for Youth and Adults, including first, instilling R.A.P.’s human and communication values of trust, availability, easy access, compassion and care about people’s experiences. Second, listening to ensure that people know they are respected, heard, and cared about; and helps people understand, overcome and cope with the feelings they experience due to the crime, abuse, violence or harm. We will assist them in understanding their rights and assure them they will not go this process alone.
Another positive impact is that our work with helps regain a sense of power by gaining information about the other person(s) who caused the harm or violence and/or court required information. Finally, R.A.P.’s process of facilitating Restorative Justice meetings between the victim and the person who caused the harm promotes prevention, accountability, and healing for people. RAP also provides emotional support through R.A.P.’s Healing Circles that will provide individual and families significant therapeutic, educational and peer support through discussions and mutual support networks. Currently, many of these services are at no cost to participants for youth and adults.
