Take Back Our Kids (T.B.O.K.) is the parent outreach and engagement initiative developed and
implemented by Restore Assemble Produce (R.A.P.) to ensure parents have access, education and awareness to all the tools, community support and power to effectively advocate for their students’ academic success. Take back Our Kids specifically operates with an equity lens to guarantee the “all students” statement(s), ascribed by schools and their districts, is inclusive to youth who experience disparity in exclusionary discipline practices, low graduation rates, high drop-out rates, and racism.
R.A.P. and its Take Back Our Kids (T.B.O.K.) works to build the trust of parents whom we see as the real leaders, not only in their households, but in the schools and in their community.
Parents should be the “experts” regarding their youth and their needs as well as their potential and we regard them as the leaders of T.B.O.K. The R.A.P. staff work to serve and facilitate leadership training on restorative practices to keep youth in school and educate on institutional racism, trauma-informed practices and how to navigate all the rights that parents and students have in the education system.
Take Back Our Kids values community oneness and unity of purpose. Strong relationship building through the common care of each other and our youth is a mainstay of the T.B.O.K. culture. Through community fellowship meetings with parents, youth and like-minded
individuals and groups, we envision a new era of student success and parental power that will transform lives and bring new meaning to academic success in the education system.
